Two-Boat Collision in Plaquemines Parish, New Orleans

Commercial Boat and Bay Boat Accident Near Boothville-Venice

The Coast Guard has reported a crash between a 40-foot commercial boat and a 24-foot bay boat in the Plaquemines Parish waterway. The crash occurred on Saturday, February 16 th.

The accident occurred in the Mississippi River near the Baptiste Collette Bayou, around 10:45 a.m. The smaller boat sunk in the collision, throwing its four passengers overboard but resulting in no serious injuries (they were sent to Ochsner Medical Center in Terrytown after the accident). The commercial boat held eight crewmembers, who assisted the passengers of the other boat in the aftermath of the collision. The Coast Guard reached the scene soon afterwards. The sunken bay boat was left in the waterway after the accident, but no damages to the commercial boat and its crew were reported.

The cause of the collision is unknown as of Saturday, reports WWL TV.
