Raven Fielding Benoit

Attorney

Raven Fielding Benoit is a highly skilled trial attorney whose unique perspective as a former defense lawyer gives her a distinct advantage when representing individuals and families who have been injured. Having spent years on the other side of personal injury litigation, Raven understands how insurance companies, trucking companies, manufacturers, and their defense counsel evaluate claims, investigate accidents, assess liability, and build strategies to minimize exposure. She now uses that knowledge to level the playing field for injured victims. Before joining Chopin Law Firm, Raven became a shareholder at a prominent New Orleans-area defense firm, where she developed a sophisticated practice focused on complex trucking and transportation litigation and products liability. She successfully tried numerous jury and bench trials to verdict involving catastrophic losses and low-impact accidents alike. Her experience includes defending high-stakes matters involving demands in the seven-, eight-, and nine-figure range, giving her a comprehensive understanding of how defendants and their insurers approach cases of significant value.Raven also served as the lead partner of a 24/7 Emergency Response Team, where she was responsible for immediately mobilizing to accident scenes, preserving critical evidence, coordinating with experts, and directing the early investigation of serious incidents. That experience now allows her to recognize—often before opposing counsel does—the evidence that can make or break an injured person’s claim. She understands the importance of acting quickly, identifying responsible parties, preserving evidence, securing witness testimony, and uncovering the facts that defendants may prefer remain hidden.Raven’s extensive knowledge of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations and the trucking industry provides a particularly powerful advantage in transportation cases. She understands how compliance is evaluated, how insurance companies investigate crashes, and how defense counsel scrutinize liability and damages. She brings that knowledge to every case she prosecutes, allowing her to anticipate defense strategies and aggressively pursue the evidence necessary to hold negligent parties accountable. Her defense background also gives Raven an uncommon understanding of the tactics used to challenge personal injury claims. She knows how defense attorneys assess causation, medical treatment, damages, witness credibility, accident reconstruction, and alleged pre-existing conditions. More importantly, she knows where defense strategies are vulnerable. Raven combines that knowledge with meticulous discovery, targeted motion practice, and focused case preparation to build compelling claims for her clients.A commanding courtroom advocate, Raven is equally skilled at pursuing favorable resolutions before trial. Her ability to identify key evidence, extract critical testimony, and focus discovery on the issues that matter most allows her to position her clients for meaningful recovery while remaining prepared to take the case to trial when necessary. Her experience on both sides of litigation provides her clients with a perspective few personal injury attorneys possess.Raven was born and raised in New Iberia. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and her Juris Doctor from Loyola University New Orleans College of Law, where she was a member of the Moot Court Program and served as a research assistant to Professor Monica Wallace. Her passion for advocacy began as a Rule XX student practitioner with the Orleans Parish District Attorney’s Office, where she successfully argued criminal matters before Judge Benedict Willard in Orleans Parish Criminal District Court.Raven is licensed to practice in all Louisiana state and federal courts, as well as in Texas state court. She has been recognized by her peers as a Louisiana Super Lawyers Rising Star.Raven’s commitment to advocacy extends beyond the courtroom. She has volunteered with organizations serving the local community, including participation in the Annual Bad to the Bone: Rescued on the Runway Fashion Show benefiting the Humane Society of Louisiana and service on The Good Shepherd School fall fundraising committee, which supports educational opportunities for at-risk and underserved children throughout New Orleans. In recognition of her community involvement, Raven was named a Spotlight on Success Honoree by the March of Dimes.
